Cover Letter Check List

Use this checklist to insure that your cover letter is complete:

One page only - broken down into 3-5 targeted paragraphs
Use your computer with full spell-check
Write to someone specific if details given, with the name and title spelled correctly
Ensure the school/district name and address are correct and complete
If sending via snail mail use quality bond paper (ideally the same as your résumé)
3-5 focused paragraphs (focused on the employer's needs, not yours)
Close the letter formally e.g. Sincerely or Yours truly
If sending via snail mail remember to sign your cover letter
Send in a business envelope (to avoid folding all of your paperwork)
Type or neatly print address (the return address too) on envelope
Final step: do not forget to follow up, or all the other steps will be in vain!
